President Muhammadu Buhari during the courtesy visit

President Muhammadu Buhari says the North East deserves attention having experienced thirteen years of Boko Haram insurgency.

The President stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi at his Palace during a one day working visit to Borno state.

This is the third time President Muhammadu Buhari is visiting Borno in the last one year.

However, this Presidential visit is unique as he is celebrating the World Humanitarian day in the epicentre of Boko Haram insurgency where about two million people have been displaced.

President Buhari reiterated his commitment to restoring sustainable peace in the region and revamp agricultural activities.

“We know what the condition was in the North East before the coming of this administration and relative to time and resources, this administration has paid attention to this part of Nigeria because they deserve it” President Buhari said.

The President also assured that he will continue to do his best to restore peace and stability in all parts of the country.

Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum commended the President for approving fifteen billion naira for the repatriation and resettlement of Nigerian refugees in Niger, Chad and Cameroon republics.

Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi appreciated the President for his commitment to restoring peace and rebuilding destroyed communities.

He requested the President to resucitate the Chad Basin Development Authority and also resume oil exploration in the Lake Chad area.

The Shehu of Borno then commended Governor Babagana Zulum for his relentless effort to humanitarian services to vulnerable people in the state.
