Barrister Abubakar Sadiq Jallo explained that the first committee to be set up would consist of the State Governor, the leadership of the State House of Assembly and the Executive Secretary SEMA to raise funds for assisting the victims of the disaster.

According to him, the third committee to be headed by the Speaker will be saddled with the responsibility of ensuring the provision of logistics for the SEMA to enable it to embark on the immediate distribution of relief materials to affected victims across the state.

Jallo said the Assembly would also invite the management team of the Ministry of Environment not able to attend the meeting as they were currently in Abuja officially to discuss and ensure realistic measures are being taken to address the incessant environmental problems across Jigawa state.

In a remark, the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency Alhaji Yusuf Sani Babura explained that the disasters which include wind, rainstorms and floods affected the people annually.

He said the current disaster concern at stake, were heavy wind and rainstorm only, hence the need for preparedness as the officials of Hadejia/Jama’are River Basin Development Authority have sounded warning about the opening of the Tiga Dam spillage to release more water into the riverine areas.

Alhaji Yusuf Sani Babura appreciated the concern of the legislature towards the disaster facing the people and the commitment of members of the assembly to work with SEMA to address the issues at hand.
