Officers from various units and formations of the eighty-one division of the Nigeria Army have commenced a four-day combat proficiency competition in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

This is aimed at improving their combat readiness, leadership traits, and organizational ability.

Declaring the competition open, The General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Umar Musa maintained that the efforts put into training by officers would reduce the level of casualties during the crisis period and also promote esprit-de-corps among the troops.

Major General Musa represented by Brigadier General Shaibu Nuhu reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Army to prioritize qualitative training of officers and soldiers to attain a high level of professionalism and global best practices in the face of the current security challenges in the country.

Activities at the ongoing Inter-Brigade Combat Proficiency Competition at the shooting range of the 35 Artillery Brigade Alamala, Abeokuta include; Map Reading, Combat Swimming, Obstacle Crossing, and Skills at Arms.

At the event, The brigade commander, 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Brigadier General Isah Abdullahi urged the participants to adhere to the rules of the competition as it would assist them to be efficient and productive.

The four-day Inter-Brigade Combat Proficiency Competition will end on Thursday this week.
