The Federal Executive Council, FEC, has approved over 2.6 billion Naira for the procurement 60 utility vehicles and various gadgets, as well as their accessories to support security agencies effectively secure the FCT.

Briefing State House correspondents on the approval, the Minister, Alhaji Musa Bello, said the delivery period of the consignment was 2 months.

He explained that the procurement of the vehicles was part of the administration’s continuous support to security agencies.

FEC has also acceded to the request of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission to procure 25 operational vehicles to enhance operation.

The cost of the vehicles, as disclosed by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, was about 900 million Naira.

FEC also approved a policy on monitoring and evaluation for the country presented by the Ministry of Finance.

The Minister, Dr. Zainab Ahmad, explained that policy defined a framework for the institutionalisation of the practice of monitoring and evaluation to promote good governance to improve socio-economic development of the country and enhance the well-being of citizens.

The policy, according to her, provides modalities for feedback from citizens to enable decision-makers make effective use of evidence by government and stakeholders to inform policies, strategies, and investments.

Similarly, FEC has given approval for the concession of the Badagry Deep Seaport, whose development will be undertaken by the private sector, and hand over to the Federal Government at the end of concessionary period.

The Minister of Transportation, Alhalji Sambo Jaji Mu’azu, said the aim was to make Nigeria the maritime hub of West and Central Africa.

He explained that the project would create over one million jobs.
