KNHA Pledges Speedy Passage Of 2023 Proposed Budget

Kano State House of Assembly (KNHA) has reiterated dedication to the speedy passage of 2023 budget into law, to pave way for the execution of more developmental projects in the State.

The Speaker Kano state House of Assembly, Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari made the pledge during a two day workshop on the development of economic and fiscal update, fiscal strategy paper and budget policy statement, organized by Kano state ministry of budget and planning.

Engineer CHIDARI who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Kabiru Hassan Dashi explained that the objectives of the workshop was to review the 2022 half year budget performance report and development of economic and fiscal update.

Others are development of fiscal strategy paper and budget policy statement for the year 2023-2025 fiscal plan and to also provide indicative resource projections of Kano State budget for the year 2023.

” As you’re aware the exercise dwelt critically on economic consequences largely cause by high inflation rate, exchange rates,low purchasing power,fall in income and wages”

The speaker pointed out that, KNHA was highly impressed with the commitment of the state government through Ministry of Planning and budget, and other stakeholders towards producing working documents that would form basis of the year 2023-2025 budget preparations.

The Speaker urged Ministry of budget planning and other relevant stakeholders, to take full advantage of Kano State Pubic financial management Law passed by the House, to serve as a guide in all o issues related to budget planning.

In his remarks, Secretary to Kano State Government Alhaji Usman Alhaji , said the workshop was strategically designed to describe how budget process fits within the medium term expenditure, which would relate to policy and strategic planning and budget preparations.

He noted that ,it would also serve as an avenue for participants, to comprehend and understand how resources are allocated to all relevant sectors, on a more realistic and scientific basis.

Alhaji Usman Alhaji, commended the efforts of development partners particularly the Foreign and Commonwealth development office through PERL and all relevant stakeholders for making the workshop a reality.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary kano state Ministry of Planning and budget Alhaji Auwal Umar Sanda, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the workshop and promised to use the the knowledge gained judiciously.
