House of Representatives has Called on the Federal Government to Address the Devastating Flood Disaster in Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency of Bauchi State:

This followed a motion by a member from Bauchi State Alh Mansur Manu Soro adopted by the house.

Alhaji Manu Soro, who described the security and welfare of citizens as the primary purpose of government as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, appealed for urgent steps to arrest the situation

He explained that the devastating flood disaster that occurred in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State had destroyed more than 200 houses, farmlands and other people’s sources of livelihood.

The lawmaker who Commended the Bauchi State Government for deploying officials of the State Emergency
Management Agency (SEMA) to identify the causes of the flood disaster urged NEMA to provide relief materials to the victims to improve their condition.

Alh Manu Soro, also called on NEMA and the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to engage the
Government of Bauchi State with a view to re-settling the people of Darazo who were displaced by the flood disaster.

While adopting the motion, the house has mandated its Committees on Emergency and Disaster Preparedness and North East Development
Commission to interface with relevant agencies of government to ensure implementation and to report
back within 8 weeks for further legislative actions.
