In Zamfara State, Police tactical Operatives foiled bandits attack on Saran-Gamawa and Unguwar Mata villages and Killed one Bandit.

This was contained in a statement made available to Radio Nigeria in Gusau by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Mohammed Shehu who said, the Police tactical Operatives received a distress call and swung into action promptly.

He explained that, the Bandits on the 19th June, 2022 at about 3:00am attacked the villages of Gummi local government area of the state with intent to kill and abduct innocent members of the Communities but were denied freedom of action by the gallant operatives in collaboration with the local vigilante of the affected communities.

The PPRO noted that, the tactical Operatives engaged the Bandits in an extensive Gun battle that lasted for hours, during which One Bandit was killed and recovered One AK-47 Rifle belonging to the Bandits who retreated back to the forest with possible gun wounds.

SP Shehu added that, the Commissioner of Police CP Ayuba Elkana who commended the resilience of the joint Operatives, Charged them not to relent in the Command’s efforts to safeguard lives and property of innocent people in the state and directed Area Commander Anka and Neighboring DPOs to deploy reinforcement teams to complement the ongoing confidence building patrol to avoid further attacks on nearby communities and rescue the two kidnapped victims who were already kidnapped before police arrival.
