Kaduna State Government has made significant progress in Food production and youth empowerment during the implementation of the World Bank Agricultural value chain program known as APPEALS.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Ibrahim Hussaini stated this at the Eighth Implementation Support Mission of the Project which was being observed twice every year.

He said under the project, Thousands of Farmers especially Women and Youths have been empowered through the provision of skills, machineries, farm input processing and market linkages.

Alhaji Ibrahim Hussaini explained that the state government had fully supported the implementation of the project towards achieving food sufficiency and wealth creation.

He commended the National and State Coordinating Unit of the APPEALS project for the successes recorded so far, particularly the level of compliance with the Financial guidelines of the project.

In a speech, National Project Coordinator of APPEALS, Mr. Mohammed Sani Jobdi said the implementation support mission was a fact-finding process through interaction with the stakeholders to identify areas of progress and challenges at the project implementation.

Earlier in an Opening Remark, the State Project Coordinator, Dr Yahaya Aminu noted that before September next year, Ten Thousand Farmers were expected to benefit along the value chain of the project in the areas of Dairy, Maize and Ginger Farming.
