Emir of Kwatarkwashi in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Alhaji Ahmad Umar (Mai-Kwatarshi) has died today at his palace in Kwatarkwashi, Bungudu.

In a public announcement by Zamfara State Government as signed by Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe said the eldest emir died during a prolonged illiness.

His funeral Prayer is scheduled for 6:30pm today at the historic town of Kwatarkwashi

Alhaji Ahmad Umar Mai Kwatarkwashi was crowned by Sultan Abubakar III on March 17, 1961.

He was the eldest emir in Zamfara State with 61 years on throne
