National Commission for Nomadic Education is to set up a Radio station, to be known as Radio ZAMANU International.

Executive Secretary of the Commission, Professor Bashir Usman announced this at a 3-day training workshop for staff of the commission on Radio production in preparations towards the take off of the radio station.

He who noted that Radio is an essential vehicle in the social mobilisation of the nomads stressed the need for the participants to take the workshop with utmost importance.

Professor Bashir Usman added that in view of the importance of Radio in mobilisation, education, and sensitising the Nomads, the commission in 1996, floated the first Radio program for Nomads titled Don Makiyaya Aruga at Radio Nigeria Kaduna.

He said through the program, the Commission achieve tremendous success in mobilising and educating the Nomads in the areas of improve school enrollment, participating in National census, voters registration as well as in human and animal health.

Professor Bashir Usman further said eighty four percent of Nomads especially pastoralists have Radio sets, and emphasis the importance of setting up the Radio ZAMANU international, which is going to be one hundred percent for the Nomads.

In a good will message, the Zonal Director of Radio Nigeria Kaduna, Mallam Buhari Auwalu, Represented by the General Manager of KARAMA FM, Abdulrahman Nuhu Bayero expressed the commitment of the station to continue to educate and sensitise the Nomads for more National development.

He also stressed the need for the Nomads to acquire both Western and Islamic education and overcome challenges to enable them contribute meaningful in Nation building.

Earlier, the Acting Head of department, Social Mobilisation and Women Development of the Commission, Dr Fidelis Idoko said the rationale for the establishment of Radio ZAMANU International is to harness the potentials of Radio technology in transforming the lives of the Nomads and also check the worsening crisis between farmers and herders.
