NDE Trains 130 Vulnerable Women, IDPs On Skills Acquisition In Borno

National Directorate of Employment-NDE has commenced the training of one hundred and thirty vulnerable and displaced women on skills acquisitions and trades to improve their livelihoods in Borno State.

The five-day training was on scarf making and make-ups, tye and dye and beads as well as stone making with perfumes.

Launching the skills acquisition training in Maiduguri, NDE State Coordinator, Malam Zakari Kashim said the training was organised to restore their means of livelihood due to more than decade-long insurgency.

Represented by Head of small scale enterprises, Usman Maidugu, the Coordinator explained that out of 130 participants, 50 each are in for tye and dye; scarf making and make-ups, while 30 women are being trained in beads and stone making with perfumes.

An official from NDE headquarters, Yakubu Yahaya said the training of women on skills acquisitions, was for their benefits and future economic prospects in the state.

“We pledged to provide you a financial token to commence and run your small scale enterprises in various communities,” he said.

He urged the beneficiaries to fully participate in the five-day training to acquire various skills and trades in order to improve their wellbeing.
