Nigerian Army has assured officers and soldiers of Directorates of continuous morals and financial support for improved fitness training.

Chief of Army staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, made the statement at the first Edition of the Directorate of Army physical Training and warrant Officers Workshop at the Depot Chindit Cantonment Zaria.

Represented by the Chief of Training (Army), Major General AB Ibrahim, Represented by the Commandant Depot Nigerian Army, maj. General Chenedu, the Cheif said the major objective of the workshop was to enhance the capacity of the warrant cadre in Physical training.

He said this was to ensure the provision of quality and desired complement efforts to the functions of other levels of leadership for fitness training in the Nigerian Army.

Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, explained that the opportunity of transferring emerging issues on fitness training and other imperatives were designed to be discussed at the strategic and leadership training workshop for warrant officers cadre.

He said the theme of the workshop had been carefully selected to reflect the intent of the COAS and allow participants benefit from the practical experiences of the Guest lecturers.

Earlier, Acting Director, Directorate of Army physical Training, Brig. General, Oluwale confirmed that throughout last year the directorate has conducted a series of innovative fitness training and combat-related sporting activities.

Brig. General Oluwale also noted that the introduction of some activities into the forecast of events beginning from the training year 2021 to address the specific fitness challenges observed in the various theatres of operation and the unit life across the Nigerian Army.

He noted that efforts of the past one year by Commandants and heads of various institutions in the Nigerian Army have achieved the training purposes and set objectives.
