Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Charge Cooks to Ensure Success of School Feeding

Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development charged cooks feeding pupils in public schools to ensure the success of the national home grown school feeding program across the country.

The technical adviser to the Minister Hajia Sadiya Umar farouk and representative of the ministry, Abdullahi Usman made the disclosure during a nationwide documentation and training of cooks on the national home grown school feeding program that took place at Alkali Hussaini Foundation in Birnin kebbi.

Malam Abdullahi Usman who is the team leader of the program explained that the aim is to avail the cooks the opportunity to handle food delivery and ensure quality of both food and ingredients to ensure healthy meal are consumed by pupils.


According to him, 44 sub trainer cooks were selected to learn the skills of identifying potential hazards to food safety and apply the principles in food sanitation and personal hygiene.

Meanwhile the Program Manager for kebbi state home grown school feeding program, Isah A. Umar said 2 participants were carefully drawn from the 21 local government areas considered as master trainers to train 20 others in their respective local governments, urging them to listen to their resource persons.

One of the master trainers, Nafisa Zaki from Maiyama local government who spoke on behalf of the participants assured to utilize the training for the success of the exercise.
