Amaechi Joins Presidential Race

Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has joined the list of aspirants vying for the Presidential seat come 2023, as a card carrying member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr Amaechi who made his intention known today at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium Port Harcourt, venue of the Rivers APC thanksgiving service, said it was not an easy decision to make, emphatically saying that he will be a president for all and every Nigerian.

He disclosed that he is contesting for office because he believes it is his moral duty to give what he can in the service of his country.

“I did not come to this decision lightly. I have served our nation as Minister of Transportation for the last 7 years. For 8 years before that I served as Governor of Rivers State. In the preceding 8 years before that, I was Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly,” the current Transportation Minister said, explaining that his 23 years of experience as a politician had prepared him for the task ahead.

Amaechi said he was proud to be part of the success story of the present administration which had invested heavily in infrastructure and hopes to build on the legacies achieved.

The Thanksgiving service was attended by APC stalwarts from different parts of the country, including his Minister of State counterpart, Sen Gbemisola Saraki.

The Minister will also use the opportunity to inspect ongoing work at at the Port Harcourt Maiduguri Eastern rail corridor.
