Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Scheme Board says it has commenced the payment of 715 million naira as terminal benefit to 343 retirees in the state.

The Executive Secretary of the Scheme, Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu Musa disclosed this at a news conference held in his office.

Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu Musa said  the amount paid to beneficiaries was for terminal pension to those who retired from service for the month of February,  2022.

According to him, the amount is being paid as a retirement benefit, death pension and  death pension balance.

The Executive Secretary explained that the payment covered retirees from State, Local Government Councils’ service as well as from the Local Education Authorities.

He further explained that over 555 million, 877 thousand naira was paid to 251 retirees as retirement benefit of civil servants who retired from State service,  Local Government Councils as well as those in Local Government Education Authority.

He added that the death benefit of 21 persons from the State, 16 persons from the LGC and 18 persons from the LGEA made the total to be 55 and were paid over 125 million naira.

He said over 34 million naira was paid to 37 on death pension balance, saying 17 persons were from the State, 10 persons from the LGC and 10 persons from the LGEA among others.

Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu Musa pointed out that, Jigawa is up-to-date in the payment of entitlements to retirees which include those who died in active service.

He said, the board and the State government would continue to ensure the welfare of its workers, for better service delivery and well-being of retirees after service.

He commended Governor Badaru Abubukar for the support and cooperation to the Scheme at all times.
