House of Representatives is to investigate the absence of perimeter fencing of the Abuja Kaduna rail lines.

The decision followed a motion by a member from Adamawa state Mr Zakaria Ntampa adopted by the house during plenary session.

In his lead debate, mover of the motion Mr Zakaria Ntampa, explained that absence of a perimeter fence on the railroad has greatly affected the rail system as one of the major revenue generating mechanisms.

Mr Zakaria who expressed worry, stressed the need for thorough investigation on the issue as a provision had been made for the perimeter fence in the contract awarded to the company handling the project.

Contributing to the debate, a member from Katsina state, Alhaji Sada Soli, described the motion as timely saying the perimeter fencing when erected will enhance effective service delivery and economic development.

Adopting the motion, the house advised the federal government to improve security personnel stationed along the Abuja-Kaduna rail line for effective protection of lives and property.
