The National Agency for the Control of Aids, NACA has donated four brand new equipped ambulances to the Jigawa state government to further strengthen its health sector.

The Director General of the agency, Dr Gambo Aliyu Gumel stated this while presenting the keys to Governor Badaru Abubakar at Government house Dutse.

He explained that, the gesture was part of collaboration between the agency and the state government to improve healthcare delivery at grass root level.

He said 2 million cases of HIV and Aids are presently in the agency’s record in Nigeria.

According to him, 2.8 million people had already been identified and 2 percent is being investigated.

The DG pointed out that, about 130 million naira has been set aside by the agency to fight the HIV/Aids scourge in jigawa state.

He said about 600 people are receiving direct payment from the agency in Roni, Suletankarkar and Gwaram local government areas of the state.

Dr Gambo Gumel therefore commended the state government policy for free marital test for new couples, urging other state governments to emulate.

Also speaking, Governor Badaru Abubakar expressed satisfaction over the donation and pledged his administration determination to improve health sector.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the state government and National Agency for the control of HIV/AIDS on health issues.
