One of the Presidential Aspirants from the southeast, Senator Rochas Okorocha has called on the ruling party All Progressives Congress APC to provide a level playing field for all the aspirants during its primaries.

Senator Okorocha made the call while briefing National Assembly correspondents in Abuja on his ambition to contest the presidential position under the APC

The Lawmaker urged the party not to forget the role of the leaders who made the merger of the 5 legacy parties possible in the forthcoming national convention of the party.

He specifically suggested that founding leaders of the party across the original four blocks should be allowed to nominate interested party members for sensitive positions such as National Chairman, Secretary, Women Leader, Youth Leader, Organising Secretary, etc.

He further noted that it was important to give some slots for the office of the leadership of the party to the major stakeholders that formed the APC.

Senator Okorocha stated that President Muhammadu Buhari was the leader if CPC should be given the honor to decide who should be the next National Chairman of APC while others such as Ahmed Bola Tinubu of the defunct ACN party, Ogbonnaya Onu of ANPP, and himself ROCHAS of the defunct APGA should be. honored to decide who should be the secretary and other key position of the party APC.

He argued that sharing the party’s position on this basis would prevent it’s from hitting the rock and capsize

Speaking on the clamour for the South East to produce the next President in 2023, senator Okorocha said for fairness, equity and unity, the Igbos should be supported to produce the next President considering the fact that the north, South-South, and SouthWest had all produced the president

He said it is not surprising that a south East President would bring unity and development to Nigeria.
