Two persons have been allegedly killed and many others abducted in an attack by armed bandits in Mariga local government council of Niger state.

The attack which took place yesterday at Kwimo village was said to have left many people injured.

An eye witness Malam Usman Kwimo told Radio Nigeria in a telephone interview that the bandits came in their large number carrying dangerous weapons and open fire at villagers indiscriminately.

He appealed to Federal and Niger state govẹrnments as well as security agencies to come to their aid to ammeliorate their hardship.

When contacted on telephone, State Commissioner for Local Government Chieftaincy Affairs and Internal Security, Mr Emmanuel Umar said the story that armed bandits have killed sọme peole in Kwimo is strange to him saying that he is waiting for the Chairman of Mariga local government council in Minna to brief him.

He however said about three days ago Niger state govẹrnment recieved Information from communities and law enforcement agencies that bandits have entered that area to rustle cow as such blocked all axis to prevent the bandits from penetrating that area.

This he said had forced the bandits out towards Maigaraya axis and Dutse Basai stressing that they were hibernating in that area which is a high level.

Mr Emmanuel Umar further explained that Niger state govẹrnment had requested for air support and that they could only use the helicopter because Alpha jets could not fly due to low visibility.

He however said he flew on their helicopter to that area but could not do much due to low visibility.

Mr Emmanuel Umar who said he will not ask Journalists not to report this matter because they owe people that responsibility but pleaded with the media to stop celebrating bandits by exergerating their capabilities that put fears on the mind of communities.
