The Federal Government has commissioned and handed over the Kano  to Maiduguri Road Section II, at Shuwarin in Jigawa to Azare in Bauchi state and  from Duste to Kwanar Huguma.

In a message to the occasion, President Muhammadu Buhari explained that, the commissioning and handing over of the dual road is an indication that their investment in infrastructure is yielding positive results.

Represented by the Minister of Water Resources, Alhaji Suleiman Adamu, the president said arrangement have been completed to commence dualization of Kano to Kwangwalan road in Niger-nigerian border.

According to him, the Shuwarin to Kwanar Huguma in Jigawa and Shuwarin to Katagum road is one of the critical component of national road network.

Buhari pointed out that, the present administration’s commitment to provide infrastructure and ensure ease of doing business was what informed about the completion of all uncompleted as well as the new projects. 

In his speech, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works and Transport, Dr Babangida Hussain said the project was part of President Buhari administration’s commitment to economic growth in the transportation sector.

Also speaking, Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state said, the state government has recorded tremendous achievements in all sectors of the economy under the Buhari led administration.

He said the state has achieved a lot in the areas of health, education, agriculture, water , economic empowerment as well as rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads.

Badaru Abubakar therefore urged people to be patient and thankful to God in any situation instead of blaming the government especially on the issue of insecurity.

The Emir of Dutse, Dr Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi said the dualization of shuwarin to katagum road has impacted positively on the socio economic growth of people in his domain. 

Radio Nigeria reports that, Shuwarin to Azare road contract was awarded in 2006 at the sum of 35.8 billion naira with completion period of 40 months.

The contract was later reviewed to 65.3 billion to cater for the 30.5km extension of Dutse to Kwanar Huguma, provision of new Jersey concrete barrier and 4 way cable ducts.

 The handing and taking over of the federal roads was attended by top government officials, traditional leaders among others.
