Speaker, Plateau House of Assembly, Mr Abok Ayuba, has been impeached by eight of the 24 members of the legislature.
The unusual sitting on Thursday morning, presided by the Deputy Speaker, Saleh Yipmong, elected Yakubu Sanda (APC-Pengana) as the new speaker.
It was gathered that 16 members of the House signed the impeachment, while eight members were in the House as early as six o clock in the morning to carry out the impeachment under heavy presence of armed security personnel.
The Former Speaker is accused of gross incompetence, financial Misappropriation and abuse of office.
Mr Abok Ayuba is yet to react to the development.
