House of Representatives has called on the executive arm to extend the ongoing military operations against bandits in Zamfara and Katsina to all the affected States.

This followed a motion by a member from Kano State Alhaj Haruna Dederi on the need to take urgent measures to prevent attacks by bandits on villages in Rogo local government area of Kano state.

Mover of the motion also urged government to set up a joint security task force to operate along the Katsina, Kaduna and Kano States border areas to prevent movement of bandits from one state to another.

Alhaji Haruna Chederi, maintained that his local government share a border between Katsina and Kaduna states making the area prone to attacks by bandits escaping the military onslaught in Katsina and Zamfara states.

The lawmaker however, expressed concern that if urgent steps were not taken to stop the bandits, their activities would spread to other areas of Kano, thereby upsetting the relative ease enjoyed by the state.

In his contribution, a member from Kogi state, Mr Leke Abejide, proposed an amendment to include three local government areas he is representing which was considered by the lawmakers.

Adopting the motion, the house directed it’s committees on national security and intelligence, army and police affairs to ensure effective compliance with the resolutions.
