There are strong indication that the seventh and new Sarkin Sudan Kontagora in Niger state may emerge today.

This followed the death of late and sixth Emir of Kontagora the Sarkin Sudan Kontagora Alh Saidu Namaska following a protracted illness.

An indegene of Kontagora who pleaded anonymity told Radio Nigeria in a telephone interview that the king makers entered a crucial meeting early today to either select or elect the new Emir of Kontagora out of fourty eight that indicated their interest.

Director for local government and Chieftaincy Affairs all Chairmen of Local Government Councils under Kontagora Emirate Area Commanders and DPO’s are to observe the procedures of selection to enhance it’s credibility.

Niger state Governor Alh Abubakar Sani Bello had during the third day Firda’u prayers for repose of soul of late Sarkin Sudan Kontagora Alh Saidu Namaska promised not to interfere with selection process to give the kingmakers ample opportunity and freedom to select best Emir for people of Kontagora and Niger state.

Late Sarkin Sudan Kontagora died at the age of eighty four after fourty seven years on throne.

Meanwhile security has has been tight within and outside Kontagora Emirate with people in the area waiting patiently for the news of their new Emir while Journalists have been barred from entering the palace.
