Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Dr Obadiah Mailafia is dead.

He was also a presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2019 election

Dr Mailafia died after a protracted illness at a hospital in Abuja

The former deputy governor of the Central Bank was vocal over the lingering security challenges bedeviling the country and advocated certain exchange rate reforms.

Dr Mailafia was born on December 24, 1956, in Sanga Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
