The Kano State Government say it has so far redeployed a total of 11000 workers from various cadres of the State work force back to its Ministry of Education to further strengthen the sector.
The State Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi-Kiru, stated this during the Flagging off training for some of the redeployed teachers held in Kano.
He said those redeployed were civil servants with teaching qualifications but working outside their fields of study.
The Commissioner noted that in a bid to resolve challenges bedevilling the educational sector, government had to look inward for a solution as the current economic situation would not allow for fresh massive recruitment to bridge the teaching gap.
“the State Government took into cognizant the changing needs in the field in terms of methodology, technology and needs of the students as a result deemed it necessary to subject the teachers to rigorous training to meet up to standard”
Mohammad Sanusi Kiru maintained that to achieve this goal, 600 teachers drawn from the state senior secondary schools management board, state universal basic education board, ministry for higher education among others have been selected to partake in the training process.
“The training became pertinent considering the fact that most of these civil servants have never been into classroom throughout their service carrier despite being teachers, that’s why we have to remind them of some of the things they have forgotten and equip them with modern skill”
In her remarks, the Commissioner of Higher education, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud who represented the State First Lady, Professor Hafsat Ganduje said the main pillar of the administration is education, hence the adoption of free and compulsory compulsory education.
“This training will serve as a stimulus to other teachers to pursue further degrees”
Dr Mariya Mahmoud explained that the state government was trying its best to uplift and upgarde the standard of education in the state.
She urged them to use the opportunity and redouble their efforts in delivering qualitative education to children.
