The President of the Nigeria Medical Association Professor Innocent Ujah says if hospital facilities are not improved, the Country will loose its doctors to other countries.
Professor Ujah stated this when he visited the Gbom Gwom Jos Da Jacob Buba at his palace in Jos.
While stressing that the Country has some of the best doctors in the world, Professor Ujah noted that if the facilities in the nation’s hospitals as well as doctor’s welfare does not improve, it will lead to brain drain and called on the Gbong Gwom to assist in this regard.
Professor Ujah, who is in Jos for the Association’s General Conference and delegates meeting, stressed the need for Universal Health care, noting that all Nigerians should be able to get good medical attention even if they don’t have money.
Responding, the Gbom Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba expressed hope that the conference will find solutions to some of the challenges faced in the health sector and should not be a jamboree.
Da Jacob Gyang Buba said as a professional body, the NMA should consider their services as humanitarian and commended the patriotism of members of the Association who decided to stay back in the country despite the challenges in the sector.
He charged the doctors to create a cordial relationship with their patients.
Professor Ujah had earlier flagged off a free medical outreach by the Association at the Jos Correctional Centre as part of activities marking the event.
