Jema’a Local Government is to partner the kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) to ensure transparent local government elections in the area.

Council chairman , Mr. Peter Danjuma Averik made the pledge when he received SIECOM officials who where in his office for familiarization visit in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

Mr. Averik said elections play a very crucial role in democracy and a legitimate opportunity for people to freely exercise their inalienable right to elect leaders of their choice.

He advised SIECOM officials posted to the area to be neutral and shun temptations that would make them indulge in conducts that may undermine the sanctity of the electoral processes.

The council chairman advised aspirants from all the political parties in the area to conduct their campaigns devoid of bitterness and to shun inciting comments capable of truncating the relative peace being enjoyed in the area.

Earlier, the new Electoral Officer, Jema’a Local Government Area, Mr Akut Sylvester Adamu told the chairman that they were in his office for a familiarization visit and to request the Council’s support to enable them discharge their mandate effectively.

Mr Akut assured the chairman of their readiness to conduct a transparent and peaceful elections that would be acceptable by all and called on all the political parties and other critical stakeholders in Jema’a Local Government to accord them the necessary support.

He said the office had since began the issuance of ad-hoc recruitment forms to interested individuals, adding that Wednesday April 14th ,2021 would be the closing date for the collection and submission of the forms.

Election into local government council’s areas in Kaduna State is scheduled to take place on the 5th of June, 2021.
