Members of Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, Kwara state branch have joined their counterparts across the country to embark on an indefinite strike over autonomy for the Judiciary.

When Radio Nigeria went round courts in the Metropolis, the gates were under lock and key.

Speaking with Journalists on the development, the Kwara state Chairman of Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria-JUSUN, Comrade Ibrahim Sambo said they are seeking for judicial autonomy to allow independence for the Judiciary.

He said the arrangements being run now does not allow the Judiciary to exercise it’s full potential.

In his remark on the strike, the Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, Ilorin branch, Abdulganiyu Bello, urged government to allow the Constitution to prevail by granting autonomy to the Judiciary.

He also urged the workers to conduct themselves peacefully while the strike lasted.
