Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila has called on the Nigeria Police Force to conduct thorough investigation into the recent violence in Oyo state.

He made the call during the House plenary in reaction to the recent violence that claim many lives and property worth millions of naira.

Mr Gbajabiamila, who condemned the crisis, urged the police to allow for prosecution and punishment of those who instigated and participated in the killings and destruction of property of innocent Nigerians.

The Speaker further revealed that the House will also help examine the cultural, religious and localized conflicts over land and history that are often at the root of internal security challenges.

He appealed to those who have large followership to be mindful of what they communicate to them assuring that the House will work within it’s powers to prevent it’s reoccurrence across the country.

Mr Gbajabiamila said the House supported President Muhammadu Buhari’s effort of forming a committee that will engage all stakeholders to enact a resolution aimed at building peace.

He added that the House committees on police affairs and justice have been mandated to communicate to the House position to the Inspector General of Police.
