House of Representatives Committee on healthcare services has rejected the budget proposals of four different agencies under it over poor performance.

The agencies affected are National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control- NAFDAC, National Blood Transfusion Services, Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria as well as Inter-country Centre for Oral Health in Africa.

Addressing officials of the agencies at the 2021 budget defence, Chairman of the Committee, Alhaji Tanko Sanunu, said the Committee has declined approval for their budget proposals realising the fact that they were poorly prepared.

Following the looting of warehouse belonging to the NFDAC in Kaduna, the committee Chairman called on Nigerians to be wary of the kind of drugs they purchase and consume during this critical period.

He said reports have indicated that the drugs stolen from the facility in Kaduna were siezed by the agency waiting for clearance from the relevant authorities to destroy them.

Our correspondent at the National Assembly reports that the only agency that got the approval without query from the committee was the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria. SALIHU TSIBIRI
