Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has commiserated with owners of all the businesses looted by hoodlums and announced a N500m fund to assist them to bring them back on their feet.

The Governor stated this during his visit to Kwara Mall, Agro Mall and other affected areas to assess the level of damages caused by the hoodlums in Ilorin.

According to him, if nothing is done, the incident may bring businesses to their knees, and cause massive loss of jobs and a surge in poverty rate in the State.

He said the State Government will set up a N500m fund for those that are affected to access.

AbdulRazq said the application form has been uploaded on the State Government’s website for those who are interested to fill and submit.

The Governor also dispel rumour that the State Government was hoarding palliatives.

He explained that the food stuffs and other materials stolen were donated to specific vulnerable households by the Federal Government and the private sector-led CACOVID Foundation.

The Governor, however assured that the State Government was working with security agencies to maintain public order and safety.
