Training, Improved Welfare Package Will Boost Journalists Moral – Kanwan Katsina

Training and improved welfare packages have been described as the best way to boost journalists moral and productivity to meet global best practices.

The Kanwan Katsina District Head of Ketare Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara stated this while speaking at this year’s world radio day celebration held at Nigeria union of journalists Katsina state council secretariat.

Alh Usman Bello Kankara who was representated by his media aid, Sarkinabaran Kanwan Katsina Jamilu Hashimu Gora said their was need for management of radio stations to invest heavily on training and retraining of staff.

Others included improvement of welfare packages through prompt payment of wages and entitlements, conducive working environment and promotion of working journalists to meet the global best practices.

While underscoring the importance of radio as means of communication, the monarch urged the Katsina state government to speed up the establishment of state owned FM stations in the three Senetorial zones to provide wider coverage and publicity of Government policies and programs, improve revenue generation and create employment to the teeming youth.

The Kanwan Katsina appealed to the management of radio stations in the state to join hands and put more efforts and collaboration in making the world radio day celebration a grand event.

Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara used the occasion to call for special prayers for the successful conduct of the 2023 general elections and urged journalists to use their wealth of experience and expertise in providing positive reportage of the 2023 general elections.

At the occasion, Dr Jamilu from the department of political Science of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Katsina presented a paper on the forthcoming national elections.

Other who spoke at the occasion include the special guest of honor, Governor Aminu Bello Masari who was represented by the permanent secretary Ministry of Information, culture and home affairs who was the former general manager Katsina state radio Service Alhaji Sani Bala Kabomo, the chairman NUJ Katsina State Chaple Comrade Tukur Hassan Dan Ali among others.

It could be recalled that the United Nation has set aside 13th of February every year to celebrate World Radio Day and this year marked the forth time the day is celebrated in Katsina State.
