Niger State To Resume Jerusalem Pilgrimage

Desk Officers for Christian Pilgrimage in the twenty five local government councils of Niger state have been directed to ensure that residents of their respective areas were sensitized on the importance of christian pilgrimage. 

Executive Secretary , Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board Alhaji Umar Makun Lapai gave the directive at a meeting in Minna.

Alhaji Makun Lapai cautioned the Desk Officers against engaging in any form of cash transaction with intending pilgrims to avoid any problem that may arise.

According to him, the purpose of the interface is to formally inform the local government Desk Officers of resumption of pilgrimage to Israel after two years of cancellation due to covid-19 pandemic. 

Also speaking state Director, Department Of Christian Pilgrimage Mrs Joan Pada said the meeting was called to intimate and discuss how to generate more pilgrims from the rural areas especially the self sponsored.

Mrs Joan Pada further explained that every desk officer must ensure that those who intend to travel with the intention of absconding from the holy land were not allowed to embark on the journey.

She however cautioned them against receiving gifts from any person while in Israel.

The Director also reminded the Desk Officers that it was their responsibility to convince Local Government Councils Chairmen , Churches and wealthy individuals in the society to sponsor pilgrims to Jerusalem.
