Justice Tanko Muhammad has resigned as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN.

Reports say he resigned sunday night on the grounds of ill-health.

When contacted, the Special Adviser on Media and Communication to the CJN, Mr. Ahuraka Isah, said the CJN was supposed to declare a workshop open this morning(Monday) at the National Judicial Institute, NJI

Other attempts to reach close associates of the CJN, such as the Director of Media of the Supreme Court, Mr Festus Akande, proved abortive as they refused to take their calls.

Meanwhile, training of Judges by the NJI are usually declared open by the CJN or any of his representatives but none of that happened.

The Administrator of the Institute, Justice Shehu Garba opened the session.

Following his resignation, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola will be the next acting Chief Justice of Nigeria sequel to Senate’s confirmation.
