NPC seeks collaboration of military for success census.

The Chairman National Population Commission NPC Honourable Nasir Kwarra says conducting a credible census will address the insecurity bedeviling the county. 

The Chairman stated this during a visit to the Theatre Commander Operation Hadin Kai Major General Christopher Musa at the Command and Control  Centre, Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri.

Honourable Nasir Kwarra said the Commission has conducted Enumeration Area Demarcation in seven hundred and seventy two local governments out the seven hundred and seventy four in thirty six and the FCT.

According to him, the remaining two local governments are Abadam in Borno state and Birnin Gwari in Kaduna state.

Honourable Kwarra requested the support of the Theatre Command in ensuring that the remaining areas are captured. 

He expressed commitment of the Commission to conduct a hitch free census later this year.

“We have to work collaboratively so that we can do what is good for Nigeria. We provide the data, you provide the security and with your security and the data we provide, we can plan for the development of this country ” Kwarra said.

The Chairman National Population Commission lauded the military for providing security cover to staff throughout the demarcation exercise. 

Theatre Commander Operation Hadin Kai Major General Christopher Musa promised to provide military support to ensure Abadam and other communities in the North East are properly delineated. 

He described data as critical to addressing insecurity in the county.

Similarly, the Chairman, Federal Commissioner representing Borno Alhaji Isa Buratai, other Federal Commissioners from the zone and management team also had a meeting with stakeholders on how to conduct a hitch free exercise in the Borno

At a stakeholders meeting, Deputy Speaker Borno state House of Assembly Honourable Abdullahi Askira and Chairman Gwoza local government Professor Ibrahim Bulama expressed concern that insecurity in parts of southern Borno may affect the smooth conduct of the census.

However, the Chairman of the Commission Honourable Nasir Kwarra allay the fears that no citizen residing in the county will be left out, stressing that technology has also been integrated in the demarcation and forthcoming census exercise.
