Reps Decry Non-Completion Of Works On Zaria–Pambegua Road

House of Representatives is to investigate the delay in timely Completion of the Rehabilitation work on the Zaria–Pambegua Federal Road in Kaduna State.

This is sequel to motion by a member representing Ikara- Kubau in the House of Representatives Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim from Kaduna State adopted by the house.

Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim noted that the road was among the major modes of transportation in Nigeria linking Kaduna with some States in the North East if completed would contribute to economic growth, save many lives and property

Mover of the motion maintanied that the Zaria–Pambegua road rehabilitation work was awarded in 2017 at the cost of 10.1 billion Naira with an agreement of 2019 dateline completion but to date the contractor was able to covere only 13% of the work due to delay and lack of capacity to handle the contract.

He said motorists from five Local Government Areas of Zaria, Soba, Kubau, Kauru and Lere who were predominantly farmers contributing 75% of Maize production in Nigeria, find it difficult while transporting their produce, especially during the rainy season.

The lawmaker who was worried about the deteriorating state of the road and the negative impact on the lives and economic development of people in the area appealed to the house to direct the federal ministry of works to ensure timely completion of the work.

Most of the lawmaker who contributed during a debate on the motion emphasized the important of completing the rehabilitation work on the road in view of the significant role its playing on economic and livelyhood of people in the area.

After adopting the motion the Speaker has directed the house committee on Works and Housing to liaise with the federal ministry of Works and housing to ensure compliance on the house resolutions.
