Empowerment: Over 10,000 Youths, Women Receive Training In Zamfara

Over 10,000 youths and women have so far benefited from skills acquisition training and empowerment programme from Bungudu/Maru federal constituency of Zamfara State.

A Member representing Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency in Zamfara State, Alhaji Shehu Ahmad disclosed this while flagging off the training and presentation of tools to women and youths in Gusau the state capital.

The federal law maker who was represented by the Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state, Alhaji Umar Dan’umma Bungudu said the exercise was aimed at alleviating the suffering of the less privileged and enable them to become self reliance.

Dan’ Umma Bungudu said the event marked the 18th set of trainees, making a total number of 10,000 beneficiaries from the two local government areas

The items given to them include sewing machines, grinding machines, laptops, ploughs, fertilizer, vehicles among others.

The program was organised by the Nigerian Stored Product Research Institute (NSPRI) Ilorin, Kwara State, and ABA Gwana Nigeria LTD, to complement governments efforts in reducing poverty in the society.

The Federal Government’s representative at the event, Alhaji Shamsu Dankane, described the event as timely and a welcome development considering the way it would help in reducing poverty and social challenges.

In her contributions the representative of the Nigerian Stored Product Research Institute (NSPRI) Ilorin, Kwara State Dr Eunice Bamishaiye, commended the lawmaker for organising the occasion.

She congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to avoid selling out the items given to them but to use them judiciously

In a vote of thanks, the Executive Director of the lawmaker’s NGO, Musa Aboki said the program was the 18th batch from Bungudu and Maru local government areas noting that there would be more empowerment training.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Sani Abubakar from Bindin community in Maru local government area, commended the lawmaker for the support given to them.
