IFAD Distributes Free Farming Inputs In Jigawa

In its efforts to cushion the effects of Covid 19 pandemic, the International Fund for Agricultural Development IFAD has supported Dagilfanni community development association in Birniwa Local Government with farming inputs.

Flagging off the distribution, the Special Adviser to Governor Badaru Abubakar on Community Inclusion, Ahaji Hamza Muhammad Hadejia said the items will assist the beneficiaries to produce more food for self sufficiency.

In his speech, the state distribution officer of IFAD, Mallam Abdullahi Muhammad Sambo said the fund has encouraged and supported the youths in communities on agricultural development programmes.

He added that 110 male and female young farmers in Guri also benefited from the items.

In his remark, the chairman of Birniwa local government council, Alhaji Umar Baffa Birniwa commended the IFAD for supporting community based organizations in  Matamu ward to boost food production in the state.  

Radio Nigeria reports that the free items distributed include 25kg bags of NPK fertilizer, 25kg bags of rice, maize seedlings as well as insects and herbicide chemicals to 53 youths.
