NIPR To Name Practitioners Without Registration

Nigerian Institute of Public Relations-NIPR says it will soon commence publishing names of people occupying public relations related offices without requisite registration with the Institute.

The President of the Institute, Alhaji Mukhtar Surajo stated this during the investiture of Governor Nasiru Elrufai as Patron of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations Kaduna State Chapter held at Government House Kaduna.

Alhaji Sirajo represented by the Vice President of the Institute, Mr Adewale Adeniyi said the law establishing the Institute has made it a criminal offence for anybody to practice public relations without being a member of the Institute.

He pointed out that, anybody without registering with the Institute is therefore a quack irrespective of experience.

Alhaji Mukhtar Surajo appealed to Governor Nasiru Elrufai to direct all the state officers as well as those in the in the local government Councils working in various public relations and information department to register and participate in the activities of the Institute.

He however implored state governors across the country to ensure that people they appoint into public relations or public affairs are fully registered.

The President of the Institute also Conferred Governor Nasiru Elrufai with the title of Grand patron of the Institute of Public Relations.

“Your Excellency Sir, with this and by the power conferred on the president and chairman of the governing Council of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, I hereby invest you with the title of patron of the NIPR”

Responding, Governor Nasiru Elrufai who accepted the title with all humility, expressed appreciation for all the work that the members of the Institution were doing across the country to strengthen unity and progress of the nation.

He promised to look at the charged that the Institute imposed on him and pledged to do his best to meet the expectations.

“I will like to commend you with all the work that you are doing and your recognition of our colleague Samuel Aruwan with the responsibility of coordinating the Northwest, I assured you, just as he is one of the shining stars of Kaduna State government he will not let you down and he will deliver on the mandate giving to him”

The governor also promised to support the Institution.

The Chairman of the Institute, Kaduna State Chapter, Alhaji Bashir Chedi was part of the delegation among other members from Kaduna State.

Deputy governor of the State Dr Hadiza Balarabe and other members of the state Executive Council witnessed the event.
