Expert Recommends Sustainable Mitigation Efforts Against Covid-19

Some Of The Participants At The Annual Lecture On Public Health and Community Medicine.

The need for relevant agencies and other stakeholders to sustain mitigation efforts against the spread of Covid-19 has been advocated.

A Professor of Community Medicine, Mrs Obehi Okojie stated this during an Annual Lecture by the Faculty Of Public Health and Community Medicine, National Postgraduate Medical College Of Nigeria in Kaduna.

Professor Obehi Okojie, who spoke via a virtual conference on the impact of Covid-19 on communities said government must invest and collaborate more towards serving the needs of its people especially at the community level.

She stressed the importance of developing world class diagnosis, treatment and Vaccine Centers and a better improved standard of living by the government and its relevant bodies.

Earlier, the faculty Chairman, Professor Chikaike Ogbonna called on Nigerians to take the impact and the reality of Covid-19 serious by obeying set rules of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC.

Professor Chikaike Ogbonna also appealed to religious leaders to adequately inform their followers at the community levels on the danger of Covid-19 and the need to obey precautionary measures.

In a remark, Deputy Governor of Kaduna State Hajiya Hadiza Balarebe, re-emphasised State Government’s effort in protecting lives and livelihoods of its citizenry regardless of the inconveniences caused by adhearing Covid-19 Safety guidelines.
