The 2027 governorship race in Taraba State took a new twist on Wednesday as the running mate to PDP candidate, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, launched a scathing attack on non-indigenous governors who have ruled the state.

Engr. Aminu Zakari, who spoke to journalists in Jalingo, said Taraba’s underdevelopment is a direct result of electing “strangers” who did not understand the state.

“We have had two governors who did not know our state; one was from Kaduna and the other was from Port Harcourt, that is why there was no development,” Zakari said.

He declared that Senator Bwacha represents a return to a true grassroots, homegrown leadership.

Zakari claimed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains the natural choice of Tarabans, stressing that since creation of the state, the party has never lost a governorship election at the ballot.

According to him, the exit of current administration members from the PDP is a blessing in disguise, as they were entrusted with the people’s mandate but “failed the people woefully.”

“No sector is fully functional under the present APC government. Even during Darius Ishaku, Tarabans did not suffer like this. Today our status is pathetic and worrisome,” he said.

He marketed his principal as a man of integrity and faith, saying “Senator Bwacha is a man of God. His white is white and his black is black. He never involves himself in anything against the teachings of the Holy Bible.”

Unveiling their blueprint, Zakari said a Bwacha/Zakari administration will prioritize security, education, healthcare, agriculture, irrigation farming, infrastructure, women and youth empowerment, and transformation of major markets to boost Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

He urged Tarabans to obtain their PVCs and vote PDP in 2027, insisting that “the founding fathers of PDP are still intact and will reclaim their mandate to rescue the state.
