Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, has flagged off the construction of two major road projects in Dukku–Tarasa, and Birnin lafiya – Gulma – Natsini in Birnin Kebbi and Arugungu Local Government Areas, in a renewed drive to improve rural connectivity and stimulate economic activities across the state.
The Dukku–Tarasa road project, covering two kilometres, is expected to be completed within six months, while the 32-kilometre Birnin Lafiya–Gulma–Natsini road project in Argungu Local Government Area has a completion period of 12 months.
Speaking at the ceremonies, Governor Idris said the projects were part of his campaign promises and reflected his administration’s determination to improve road infrastructure, ease transportation and connect rural communities to urban centres and economic opportunities.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to executing development projects that directly address the needs of the people, stressing that rural communities would continue to receive attention under his administration.
Governor Idris added that, improved road infrastructure would enhance the movement of people and goods, facilitate the transportation of agricultural produce and strengthen commercial interactions among neighbouring communities.
Residents of the benefiting communities commended the Governor for initiating the projects, expressing optimism that the roads, upon completion, would ease transportation difficulties, improve access to essential services and create better opportunities for farmers, traders and other residents.
The projects underscore the administration’s commitment to extending infrastructure development beyond major urban centres and improving connectivity for communities across Kebbi State.
