The Kaduna State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Usman Shehu Bawa, popularly known as ABG, has called for decisive action to address the rising insecurity following the reported abduction of four residents of Rahusa Estate, Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, by his spokesperson, Yusuf Idris, Shehu Bawa expressed sadness and concern over the reported attack, saying the incident occurred at about 11 p.m. on Monday, October 6, when suspected kidnappers raided the estate.
He said the incident came barely a week after a similar attack on a community in Babban Saura PW, where one person was reportedly killed while others were abducted and remained in the custody of their captors.
The PDP governorship candidate said residents of Millennium City and other parts of the state continued to live in fear as a result of insecurity, stressing that the situation required urgent and sustained intervention.
While commending security personnel for their efforts and sacrifices in confronting kidnappers and other criminal elements, Shehu Bawa said commendation alone was not enough, urging the Kaduna State Government to demonstrate stronger leadership in addressing the security challenges.
He called for the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to Millennium City and other vulnerable communities in Chikun and neighbouring areas, as well as collaboration with estate associations to provide streetlights, patrol vehicles and emergency communication lines.
Shehu Bawa also called for the swift and safe rescue of the abducted victims from Rahusa Estate and Babban Saura PW, and urged the government to facilitate the establishment or deployment of security outfits in vulnerable communities.
He further advocated the engagement and adequate equipping of vigilante groups, including KADVIS, to complement conventional security agencies in protecting soft-target communities.
The PDP candidate said Kaduna could not achieve lasting security through statements alone, but through deliberate, inclusive and sustained action.
He said that under his proposed People Agenda administration, if elected, community security would be made a foundation of governance, with citizens playing an active role in the security architecture.
Shehu Bawa described the latest incident as “one attack too many” and said the people of Kaduna State deserved better, while extending his thoughts and prayers to the families of the abducted persons and those who lost loved ones.
