Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has signed the 2026 Supplementary Appropriation Act, providing an additional ₦63.478 billion for the state and its 27 Local Government Councils.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Hamisu Mohammed Gumel, in Dutse, the governor directed relevant authorities to ensure effective implementation of the additional budgetary provisions.
The supplementary appropriation provides ₦46.369 billion for the state and ₦17.109 billion for the 27 Local Government Councils.
The additional provision comes on the heels of the state’s initial 2026 budget of ₦901.84 billion, while the 27 Local Government Councils had a combined initial budget of ₦288.85 billion.
Governor Namadi explained that the supplementary appropriation was necessitated by additional revenue accrued to the state, which was presented to the House of Assembly for legislative action in line with constitutional requirements.

The governor commended the Speaker and members of the House of Assembly for their dedication to the legislative process and the speedy passage of the supplementary appropriation.

He also acknowledged the contributions of commissioners, Ministries, Departments and Agencies, and the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning towards the preparation and passage of the supplementary budget.
Governor Namadi directed all relevant authorities to ensure that the appropriation is implemented as assented to and urged the House of Assembly to strengthen its oversight role to ensure accountability and benefits to the people.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatim, the Secretary to the State Government, Head of Service, Chief of Staff, members of the State Executive Council and other senior government officials.
