The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, NESREA, Operational Office Kano, has called for stronger collaboration with Ungoggo Local Government Area to improve environmental management and sanitation.
The Head of NESREA Operational Office Kano, Mr. Hassan Umar Bacciji, made the call when he led a team from the agency on a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Ungoggo Local Government Area, Tijjani Amiru Bilyaminu.
Mr. Bacciji said the visit was aimed at identifying areas of partnership between NESREA and the Local Government towards achieving a cleaner, safer and healthier environment for residents.
He explained that NESREA was responsible for protecting the environment, enforcing environmental standards and regulations, and promoting sustainable environmental practices across the country.
The NESREA official stressed the importance of cooperation with local authorities in addressing environmental challenges and ensuring compliance with relevant environmental laws and regulations.
He said effective environmental management required the participation of government institutions and communities, particularly at the grassroots level.
Mr. Bacciji also solicited the support of Ungoggo Local Government for the provision of office accommodation for NESREA within the area.
According to him, such a facility would enable the agency to strengthen its operations, environmental monitoring and compliance activities in the Local Government Area.

He noted that closer collaboration between NESREA and the Local Government would enhance efforts to maintain proper sanitation and protect the environment for the benefit of residents.
Responding, the Chairman of Ungoggo LGA Tijjani Amiru Bilyaminu, appreciated the NESREA team for the visit.
Bilyaminu expressed his readiness to support the agency and collaborate with it in strengthening environmental management and sanitation across the Local Government Area.
He said the Local Government would explore areas of cooperation with NESREA to promote a cleaner and healthier environment for its residents.
