The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested Bello Abubakar of Ganwo Village, Yauri LGA in connection with attempted culpable homicide and robbery.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
The incident occurred when Bello Umar a commercial motorcycle rider of Wasagu Village, Danko/Wasagu LGA, was found with a serious head injury at Tungar Dariya Bush, near Makera Village, Shanga LGA, and was taken to Koko General Hospital, where he was treated and discharged.
Investigation revealed that the suspect hired the victim’s motorcycle from Koko Town to Tungar Dariya Bush, and attacked the victim with a hoe, covered his body with leaves believing he was dead, and made away with the motorcycle to Yauri Town.
It adds that through diligent investigation, the stolen motorcycle was traced and recovered, leading to the suspect’s arrest and the suspect is cooperating with investigators as case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and prosecution.
Similarly, the command has arrested six suspects in connection with cable vandalism and breaking and entry into the INEC Office in Jega, recovering all six stolen generators and all suspects are in custody and will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
SP Bashir said, Police operatives arrested Aliyu Muhammed of Dudduke Village, Jega LGA in possession of bundles of aluminium cable wires concealed in a sack and during interrogation, the suspect confessed to having conspired with Yusuf Dudduke to vandalise and steal cables from an electric pole at Dudduke Village.
According the statement, following a report of breaking and entry into the INEC Office, Jega, where six generators were stolen, detectives were immediately deployed and the operation led to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of all six stolen generators. One of the generators had, however, already been dismantled into scrap parts for sale.
