Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, says federal government policies and interventions under President Bola Tinubu have provided his administration with greater opportunities to implement programs and projects that impact directly on the people.

The Governor stated this in Jalingo when the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, accompanied by the Director-Generals of Radio Nigeria, the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, and Voice of Nigeria, VON, paid him a courtesy visit as part of activities marking Taraba State’s 35th anniversary.

Kefas said his administration was committed to supporting President Tinubu’s vision of transforming the country and creating an enabling environment for investment, development, and improved living conditions.

He assured the federal government of the state’s continued cooperation, noting that effective collaboration between the two levels of government was necessary to achieve sustainable development.

Speaking on security, the Governor expressed optimism that the proposed establishment of state police would strengthen the security architecture and enhance the capacity of the state to protect lives and property.

Earlier, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the economic reforms of the Tinubu administration had improved the capacity of both federal and state governments to finance critical development project, adding that, the removal of fuel subsidy had provided resources for investment in key sectors, including infrastructure, education, agriculture, and security adding that, reversing the policy could undermine some of the gains achieved through the reforms.

The Minister recalled that the reforms were introduced when about 27 states were experiencing difficulties in meeting their salary obligations, stressing that the Federal Government had since introduced various interventions to support states and stimulate development.

He highlighted interventions in education, agriculture, economic development and security, while commending the Taraba State Government for its cooperation with the Federal Government, and also describing the partnership between the federal and state governments as essential to advancing development and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
