Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims and recovered N800,000 taken from them by terrorists in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The troops also engaged terrorists in a separate operation in Kankara Local Government Area of the State.

The Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement issued to Newsmen in Gusau.

According to him, on August 22, troops of Sector 2, while conducting a fighting patrol, responded to a distress call that terrorists had intercepted a vehicle and kidnapped six occupants along the Dandume–Sheme Road.

He said the troops swiftly moved to the area and engaged the terrorists, overwhelming them with superior firepower and forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding bushes.

Lieutenant Colonel Danja said the six victims were subsequently rescued unharmed following an exploitation of the area.

He added that the troops also recovered N800,000 earlier taken from the victims by the terrorists.

The recovered money and vehicle were handed over to the victims in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume.

In a separate operation conducted on August 21, troops of Sector 2 encountered terrorists along the Maraban Kankara axis in Kankara Local Government Area.

The troops immediately engaged the terrorists, forcing them to flee in disarray into the surrounding bushes.

The troops pursued the fleeing terrorists and subsequently recovered a motorcycle during an exploitation of the area.

The Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, said it remains committed to sustaining aggressive patrols and offensive operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of action and protecting lives and property.

The Theatre Command also appreciated the continued support of members of the public and urged communities to provide timely and credible information to security forces to support ongoing operations.
