Federal College of Education (Technical), Gusau, has matriculated 407 students admitted for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The figure comprises 92 students for the newly introduced degree programme and 315 students for the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programme.
Speaking at the matriculation ceremony held in Gusau, the Zamfara State Capital, the Acting Provost of the College, Dr. Sirajo Muhammad Gulubba, congratulated the new students and urged them to justify the opportunity given to them by pursuing academic excellence.
Dr. Gulubba said the college, which focused on the NCE programme, had received a mandate from the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) to commence degree programmes, leading to the admission of its first set of degree students.
The Acting Provost advised the students to remain focused on their studies, develop problem-solving skills and embrace collaborative learning, stressing that, the labour market requires skills and competence beyond academic certificates.
Dr Sirajo Gulubba also urged them to shun social vices, including examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse and indecent dressing, while maintaining peaceful and responsible conduct throughout their academic journey.
According to him, the college is committed to producing graduates who can contribute meaningfully to national development through knowledge, creativity and innovation, particularly in the digital age.
Earlier, the College Registrar, Muhammad Adam Bungudu, said the institution had matriculated 92 students for the degree programme and 315 for the NCE programme, described the development as the beginning of the college’s dual-mandate programme.
Mohammed Bungudu urged the new students to abide by the rules and regulations of the institution and become good ambassadors of the college.
Some of the matriculating students, who spoke to newsmen, expressed joy at being admitted into the institution and pledged to remain focused on their studies and make good use of the opportunity.
