Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger state has been advised to set up a committee to investigate the remote causes of the Fulani Kamuku communal crises in Rafi Local Government Area.

This is with a view to nip in the bud cases of communal crises and farmer herder conflict in parts of the state, to serve as deterrent to others.

Elder statesman and an International Peace Ambassador in Niger state, Mohammed Awaisu Giwa Kuta, who gave the advise in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Minna charged them to shelve their sword and embrace peace.

Alh Awaisu Giwa Kuta, explained that such advice became imperative considering the number of people that died from the incident and properties worth million of naira that were lost due to what he described as the avoidable and unfortunate conflict.

The Wakilin Gwarin Nupe however said the problem is beyond the money Governor Umar Bago splashed to the victims, family of the deceased and those whose houses were burnt, as well as banned the sales of land in Rafi Local Government Area but to take a proactive measure to address the problem from the root cause.

According to the International Peace Ambassador, setting up of the committee should comprise of experts on security matters, technocrats and members of various tribes including traditional rulers which will no doubt helped towards addressing the problem to its logical conclusion

Though over two hundred people have been killed and properties including livestock worth millions of naira were destroyed, but aggrieved members of the Fulani’s and Kamuku community have agreed to leave in peace with one another to enhance rapid development of the area.
